For gamers from the 8x and 9x generations, the name Metal Slug, also known as “Mini Rambo,” is no stranger. This classic side-scrolling game on arcade machines is associated with the childhood of many gamers in the early 21st century. Although the graphics at that time were only pixel formats, they created unforgettable memories for Vietnamese players.

Recently, at the Gameverse 2023 event held at Phu Tho Indoor Stadium, VNGGames officially announced that it will be the publisher of Metal Slug: Awakening in 8 Asian countries, including Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. In short, Vietnamese players will have the chance to relive their childhood with the modern version of “Mini Rambo.” Additionally, attendees at the event also had the opportunity to experience this game.

With Metal Slug: Awakening, players will experience “Mini Rambo” from a 3D perspective – significantly more modern than the original version. The characters in the game will be designed more modernly and realistically, allowing players to reminisce about their memories while being equally captivated.

Not stopping there, if the old Metal Slug could only accommodate 2 players on arcade machines, the new version now allows parties of up to 3 players simultaneously. With the mentioned 3D interface, the main map will truly open up a new perspective, providing a more realistic experience for those engaging with “Mini Rambo.” Additionally, players can make friends, interact with other players, and complete quests together in-game – something that the original Metal Slug could not offer.

Currently, VNGGames has only teased Metal Slug: Awakening through the Vietnam Game Festival 2023 event. However, players can fully anticipate a grand yet nostalgic game set to officially launch in the near future.
