Perhaps by now, the League of Legends (LoL) community in Vietnam is no stranger to the news regarding the suspected ranking accounts on the Korean server of Vietnamese players being locked by Riot Korea. Of course, Riot has not confirmed or denied this information. As for the teams, only a few pieces of information have come from GAM Esports and somewhat from Saigon Buffalo (SGB) regarding this incident.

However, as of now, the international LoL community has just received news about the incident. According to a post on the social media platform Reddit, it was mentioned that all Vietnamese players had their accounts locked by Riot on the Korean server. This post did not provide any reason for the incident or any new information. Nevertheless, that was enough to cause a stir in the international LoL community.
According to many opinions, it seems that Riot thinks the Vietnam region (VCS) is a small part of the LoL world. Therefore, the publisher has not taken any steps to explain why many players cannot access their ranking accounts on the Korean server. Moreover, Vietnam is also known for having a rather toxic LoL environment, as several professional players have previously been penalized for negative behaviors while playing ranked matches.

– “They deserve this. VCS is a very toxic region, especially in ranked matches.”
– “You play their game, in ‘their home’, so you must follow their rules. Moreover, these are professional players.”
– “There are indeed some VCS players who are really good but have negative behavior.”
– “Perhaps VCS is a small region. And when you are a small region, Riot won’t care to explain anything.”
– “If Riot really does this, the development of the entire region will be affected.”
Some other opinions mention Faker and the troubles he has faced since the beginning of the 2022 season whenever ranked matches are discussed. Some even suggest that many people will immediately associate the impact of Faker whenever there are reports of ranking accounts on the Korean server being locked. Furthermore, Doinb himself was also locked out of his ranking account on the Korean server and hinted that this was related to Faker’s complaints.

– “And some LPL fans will say ‘It’s all Faker’s fault’ for sure.”
– “Perhaps Riot will apply this to the LPL region if they defeat the LCK players in ASIAD next year.”
– “Even Doinb hinted at Faker regarding ranked matches on the Korean server.”
However, everything is still at the rumor stage. The post has also been deleted. But one thing is for sure: if they cannot play ranked matches on the Korean server, it may significantly impact Vietnamese teams. Especially when Vietnamese teams will step into international tournaments, with the World Championship 2022 being a prime example.
