From October 11-17, 2022, the Cambodian Esports Federation (EFC) visited Vietnam and, together with Vietnam Esports Federation (VIRESA), directly discussed issues related to officially activate the preparation process for organizing esports at SEA Games 32 in May 2023. During the working trip, the EFC and VIRESA delegations conducted surveys on the infrastructure and resources for organizing and producing esports content in Vietnam.

Mr. Lun Samedy, Secretary General of EFC, stated that EFC appreciates the enthusiasm and thoroughness of VIRESA, especially the high-quality professional resources from Vietnamese partners. Notably, the publisher VNG has achieved success with the game PUBG Mobile and League of Legends: Wild Rift at SEA Games 31; or publisher VTC Online with experience in organizing major tournaments for Crossfire. These are three of the five esports disciplines that will be present at SEA Games 32.

“We fully believe that with the comprehensive support of VIRESA and its reputable partners in Vietnam, especially with the capacity and experience of successfully organizing esports at SEA Games 31, VIRESA and EFC will complete the task of organizing esports at SEA Games 32 excellently,” he emphasized.
In addition, EFC representatives stated that the extensive cooperation between EFC and VIRESA will not only stop at SEA Games 32 but will continue to promote many other potential esports projects in Southeast Asia, starting with collaboration programs and training for national esports teams between the two countries.

In response to the warm sentiments from Cambodia, Mr. Đỗ Việt Hùng, Secretary General of VIRESA, affirmed that based on the experience gained from organizing SEA Games 31 in Vietnam, VIRESA and its partners are always ready to make efforts, stand side by side with EFC, and commit to continue providing the best resources for SEA Games 32.
Additionally, VIRESA and EFC have also discussed and agreed with partner organizations on several important content regarding the implementation of training and preparation of national esports teams from both sides, aiming to best meet the expectations of esports fans in both countries. In the upcoming period, in addition to selecting and sending national teams to participate in high-quality international tournaments, both sides will also coordinate to host a “pre-SEA Games 32” tournament to create the best conditions for national esports teams to enhance their competitive experience and improve their professionalism.
SEA Games 32, scheduled to take place from May 5-17, 2023, in Cambodia, will feature 38 sports, including esports. This is the first time the Kingdom of Wonder will host a SEA Games event. At SEA Games 31, the Vietnamese sports delegation won 205 gold medals out of a total of 446 medals, leading the event. Among them, esports secured 4 gold medals and 3 silver medals, topping the esports medal tally.
