Although Viego was released in League of Legends less than a year ago, he has already become a “meme icon” used to mock Riot Games. This champion was banned in the professional scene throughout the spring season and even at MSI 2021, but as of now, Riot’s goal of fixing bugs related to Viego has yielded a grand total of zero.
Recently, the Ruined King encountered yet another bug, even more terrifying, where he could simultaneously use the abilities of two champions that had been defeated earlier, and even “upgrade” them to a version of Super Overpowered.
Not only are Riot staff likely fed up with seeing Viego’s face, but League of Legends players have probably grown tired of it as well. For those using this champion, these experiences may be interesting, as the bugs all seem to benefit him. However, for those facing him, these are certainly not pleasant memories.
It’s no surprise that recently, when Riot August – the creator of Viego, was in a match, an opposing player bluntly suggested that Riot Games should remove this champion from the game to “lighten their load.”

In the latest development, the organizers of the LCK Summer 2021 tournament have officially confirmed that they will lock Viego. It is highly likely that other tournaments will follow suit, as the number of bugs associated with this champion is increasing and becoming more “diverse.”
Of course, Riot Games will never consider erasing Viego, as this is not just a completed champion project that has been announced, but the entire champion development roadmap for 2021 revolves around him. Removing Viego would also mean that a year’s worth of work by the design team would go to waste, with financial losses being considerable.
Nevertheless, resolving the issues arising from this champion’s skill mechanics still seems to be a challenging problem for Riot’s current workforce.
