The victory of Team Whales over Team BDS was marked by the collective effort of the entire team, as the players making their first appearance at Worlds coordinated seamlessly with veterans of this stage like BeanJ and Bie. Notably, TW’s AD Carry – Artemis shone just like he had throughout his career in VCS or when facing the Chinese LoL team at ASIAD. It can be said that, Artemis is currently the best AD Carry in VCS and has also performed impressively in the Play-In stage of Worlds 2023.

However, according to some opinions, while Artemis performed exceptionally in his debut at Worlds, there is another name that deserves equal praise. That is Mid Laner Gloryy. Gloryy’s confident performance was also a crucial foundation for Artemis to freely showcase his talent. Especially, the champion Syndra in Gloryy’s hands can be said to have created “nightmares” for the BDS players after the match concluded.

Notably, there was a situation where Gloryy handled Syndra exceptionally well, which was even shared by Riot. International audiences also had to acknowledge that this was the key moment that helped TW maintain their advantage and secure victory in the decisive game 2 before completing the comeback in game 3. This was when Gloryy continuously used “Scatter the Weak” on BDS members, keeping them at a distance where they could not attack Artemis to secure a “shut down” from this AD Carry.
Furthermore, in the decisive game, Gloryy also performed very well with the champion LeBlanc, leaving opponent Nuc helpless. The inability to control Gloryy enabled him to constantly disrupt BDS’s formation, creating opportunities for BeanJ, Sparda, and especially Artemis to thrive. Alongside Gloryy, the moment Bie used his anchor in an extremely “fantasy” manner was also shared by Riot with great excitement.

It can be said that while Artemis’s performance was exceptional, it was Gloryy who is regarded as the one with the “divine” plays, crucial to TW’s victory over the fourth seed of the LEC region. This also marks a historic victory for VCS as it is the first time a Vietnamese LoL team has won a BO3 match against a representative from the Major groups.
