One of the most anticipated events for the Esports community in general and League of Legends in particular this end of the year is undoubtedly the World Championship (Worlds). This year’s event became even more special as Faker and his teammates became the reigning champions, the new kings of the LoL world. Even in the finals, despite T1 showcasing a completely dominant match, the excitement did not diminish. In fact, the final match between T1 and WBG recorded the highest viewership ever, reaching over 6 million – breaking all viewing records in the history of LoL as well as professional Esports worldwide.

Notably, during T1’s crowning, VCS also benefited greatly. Riot and statistical systems have shown that VCS consistently ranks among the highest in terms of tournament viewership worldwide. In fact, excluding Chinese broadcasting platforms, VCS is the region with the highest viewership, potentially surpassing even South Korea. Among them, the co-streaming channel of commentator Hoang Luan recorded the highest viewership of all channels authorized to co-stream Riot’s tournament, surpassing even veteran names like Caedrel or Ibal.

Recently, according to a statistic of the most popular channels on YouTube in November, the top three positions belonged entirely to LoL, including: the LCK channel, the VCS channel ranking second, and Riot’s channel in third place. Notably, the official YouTube channel of VCS even ranked higher than Riot’s channel, despite only broadcasting the 2023 Worlds and some short clips, along with accompanying programs.

Interestingly, the ranking of the VCS YouTube channel was even higher than that of the official channels of some games, such as Genshin Impact (ranked 4th). It must be noted that the Genshin Impact community is also vast and has a global reach. However, according to many opinions, it could be that Genshin Impact was also aware of the attraction of Worlds. As a result, this game had a rather quiet November to avoid being overshadowed.

Yet the rankings also show that VCS has truly made a strong impression at this year’s Worlds. Not only is it a region with great potential for development, but the Vietnamese LoL community has also shown a fierce passion for the game, compelling Riot to consider investing more here.
