Uzi Surprises with Revelation: Only One Person Earned More Than Me During My Professional Career

Who is that person?

Known as the number one legend of League of Legends in China, Uzi has always been synonymous with high salaries across every team he has played for. However, recently, this star revealed an intriguing fact about his salary story.

During his personal stream, Uzi stated that many people often assume he is the highest-paid player in the LPL. But this is not always true. In fact, in the past, the title of “richest player” belonged to someone else – inSec:

“InSec is the only teammate who earned more than me while competing professionally. But now my ‘retirement salary’ is higher.” – Uzi disclosed.

Throughout most of his career, Uzi has been recognized as the player with the highest salary in the LPL. The exact details of this superstar AD carry’s salary have never been confirmed, but in 2020, Mlxg – his former teammate, revealed that Uzi was earning up to 30 million RMB per year (over 106 billion VND).

If what Uzi shared is true, did inSec even earn more than that 30 million RMB figure? However, there is also a theory that during inSec’s time in the LPL, the overall salary structure of the league was not as high as it is today. Uzi probably only received salary increases starting in 2018, when RNG began to clinch titles.

The salary at the time when inSec and Uzi were playing together was likely lower than now, but it definitely was still among the top in the world. Many opinions suggest that inSec’s salary might have been around 20 million RMB (approximately 71 billion VND).

However, the specific numbers may not be the main concern here. The highlight is that Uzi has been regarded as the number one superstar of League of Legends in China since 2013, yet inSec – a foreign player from South Korea – still surpassed him in salary. This can be explained by the long-standing preference for Korean players in the LPL, where players from the LCK are always seen as star-level compared to local players.

InSec himself is no ordinary player; although not overly successful in terms of titles, he, like SofM today, is considered someone who reshaped the gameplay of the LPL and is also a legend of League of Legends with the Lee Sin combo etched in history.

Therefore, the fact that inSec earned the highest salary in China is not something too difficult to explain.
