Uzi has a rare moment of surpassing Faker since the start of his career, all thanks to… the LPL
As we know, on the evening of June 12 (Vietnam time), Riot officially launched the Hall of Legends skin line for Uzi – the second player in the entire professional League of Legends scene to own this skin, after Faker. Naturally, this skin line, which had been controversial even before its release, immediately sparked a lot of discussions. However, according to some recent sales statistics, it seems that Uzi has, for a rare occasion, outperformed Faker. And this is thanks to… the LPL region.

Specifically, according to statistics on the number of skins sold at LPL, Uzi’s Hall of Legends skin sold a total of 6,632 units within 24 hours. For those who may not know, according to LPL media, this figure is 5.4 times higher than Faker’s previous Hall of Legends skin (which only sold 1,158 units in the same timeframe). Thus, Uzi is likely to be the player with the best-selling Hall of Legends skin in the first 24 hours, marking his second occasion in his career surpassing Faker. The first time was when Uzi and the Chinese team defeated South Korea at the 2018 Olympics.

Riot has made a wise move so far with the Hall of Legends skin line for Faker and Uzi
When mentioning the legends of the LPL, nearly everyone thinks of Uzi, just as they think of Faker when it comes to the LCK. Therefore, it’s undeniable that Uzi’s titles and influence on the LPL and League of Legends in general are significant, if not immense. Determining whether a player deserves to be called a legend is based not only on titles but also on the impact of that player, a principle that applies to any sport.

And because of that, even with the intent of “milking money from gamers”, Riot is still heading in the right direction. If the statistics from LPL are accurate, Uzi’s skin will continue to generate substantial revenue for Riot, and Uzi may not be the only LPL player to own this skin in the future.
