On the morning of October 11 (Vietnam time), the final matches of the first round of the Group Stage of the World Championship (Worlds) 2022 have concluded. Through the first series of matches, some surprising results occurred. Notably, TOP Esports (TES) fell to the penultimate position in Group C, and all three representatives from LCS lost cleanly 0-3 after four days of competition.

In particular, it is not any team from LPL or LCK, but the names from LEC that are leaving the most impression. First, we cannot overlook Rogue. Although they are the number 1 seed from LEC, RGE was rated quite low before the start of Worlds 2022. However, RGE has truly surprised the audience. They convincingly demolished DRX and GAM. Even the mighty TES from LPL could not defeat RGE, causing them to fall to the penultimate position.

Next is the number 3 seed from the LEC region – Fnatic (FNC). Not many people had high expectations for FNC; but so far, this team has been performing well. They defeated Cloud9, who is considered the weakest representative in the group. However, the notable victory was against T1, where every position of FNC performed excellently. This win helped FNC secure second place in the group, just behind EDward Gaming (EDG) due to the same score but losing the head-to-head.

Recently, after the conclusion of the first round of the Group Stage, the AD carry of FNC, Upset provided his insights about his group. Accordingly, he is quite confident about FNC’s chances of advancing: “It will be a bit difficult to identify the teams advancing, but in my opinion, it will be FNC and EDG”. Upset also stated that all three teams still have a chance to progress through the Group Stage.

The fact that Upset did not mention T1 may stem from the fact that the LCK representative was defeated by his own FNC. Furthermore, EDG will certainly try to avoid repeating the loss from the first round against Faker and his team. However, the FNC AD carry also noted that all teams still have a chance. Therefore, any result could happen. Everything will depend on the effort and focus of the teams in each of their matches.
