The LPL team has an undefeated record but makes fans uneasy
With a larger number of teams participating than other regions, the LPL always starts its tournament earlier than any other league. Currently, the Split 2 Placements of LPL 2025 have concluded, and teams are preparing for the more crucial matches, with the primary goal being a ticket to MSI 2025. Two teams have achieved an undefeated record in the Split 2 Placements, but they have left many LPL viewers worried: Top Esports and Invictus Gaming.

The reason is that both teams are incredibly inconsistent. IG had a decent start in early 2025 but gradually declined, ultimately failing to compete for a spot in the First Stand despite having a formidable roster. However, the greater disappointment lies with TES, who only won a single match by a narrow margin. All other matches of TES in the First Stand ended in defeats, despite them being the champions of Split 1.

Among the two teams, TES raises more concerns. Unlike IG, which has been fading for a long time and has only just returned this year, TES has been a powerhouse in the LPL but has frequently faced poor results on the international stage. As of now, TES is the only team from LPL – LCK (the two regions with the strongest League of Legends scenes) that has lost to all representatives from other regions, including weaker regions like PCS and VCS.
Clearly, in the LPL, TES remains very strong, and the possibility of this team competing for one of the two slots for the upcoming MSI is feasible. But one LPL fan candidly said: “Can someone stop TES and eliminate them? I don’t want LPL to experience embarrassment once again.”

Another opinion analyzed more thoroughly: “Is it because TES is performing well in LPL or is our region falling behind? For many seasons now, the number of teams participating in international tournaments has remained around the same few names. Teams invest heavily, but there are no new faces among the players while the old ones have already declined significantly. I can’t believe we still have to put our trust entirely in TheShy, JackeyLove, or Xiaohu.”
It could be a sign that LPL is in serious decline
While LCK continuously introduces new talented faces from 2020 until now, LPL simply… has no one. Even Doinb returned in 2025, and his team dominated Split 1. This is not a good sign because clearly, a region that wants to grow strong needs a new generation to inherit, not just hope that veteran players can create miracles like when they were at their peak.
