Lux Support was once all the rage in Season 9 with the Keystone Rune Aftershock, as she dominated for a long time when this rune was adjusted to favor tank champions. However, that didn’t stop Lux Support from being popular; this champion is still a viable option in the bot lane and serves well in poke strategies during the laning phase.

However, “monsters” like Nautilus and Leona have made a strong comeback in the bot lane, causing Lux to be increasingly neglected. Therefore, in the recent patch 10.3 of League of Legends, Lux Support received a significant buff, adding base damage to Q – Light Binding, making this champion much stronger in the bottom lane.

These updates were released by Riot August, a senior designer at Riot Games . However, it is ironic that August himself was trolled in-game by the very Lux he adjusted, and he had to exclaim that: “Those Lux Support players who build Luden’s Echo first are just ruining the game.”
Riot August: “Lux’s base win rate has slightly increased by 0.5%, while Lux Support’s increased by 1.5%. Overall, these numbers are not very impressive. The important thing is that many people are building Lux Support completely wrong; in most games, you shouldn’t be buying Luden’s Echo and should prioritize maxing W – Prismatic Barrier first or second.”
“Players who build Luden’s Echo first and max W last are just ruining the game. This playstyle is not effective at all; it has a win rate that declines by 4-5% compared to the normal playstyle.”

Many gamers playing Lux have an extremely negative playstyle of building AP items while playing in the Support position. Indeed, there are matches where you encounter a weak ADC and must build damage, but that doesn’t mean you can neglect your Support duties. Maintaining vision control is always crucial, and as a Support, you must fulfill this responsibility.

However, when you’re too fed or deliberately build Luden’s Echo and AP items, you take it upon yourself to become the damage dealer, and suddenly no one is fulfilling the warding duty. As a result, the whole team plays in a constantly pressured vision situation, and you may have tons of AP, but it means nothing as the opponents take all objectives, towers, and gradually wipe out your team.

The advice for playing Lux Support is to complete your duties as a Support first before considering building damage or anything else. At the very least, make sure you have Athene’s Unholy Grail or Shurelya’s Reverie to effectively protect your teammates. If you are too fed, items like Rylai’s Crystal Scepter or Liandry’s Anguish are still much better than Luden’s Echo, which is merely a farming item.
