Consequently, any activity involving players from Gen.G and T1, or related to names like Faker and Chovy, can easily become a “flashpoint” for endless disputes. The recent case involving commentator V.T is a prime example.
Specifically, during the match between Gen.G and OKSavingsBank BRION, the famous commentator made a statement that left many people stunned. He claimed, “Lucian in game 1 was Chovy’s accident.” Meanwhile, in game 1, Chovy‘s performance with Lucian may not have reached the peak potential that this player is capable of, but it was by no means bad. He still had the highest CS in the team as usual (266) and an impressive KDA of 5/1/3. In this match, Chovy was the second main source of damage for Gen.G, following Canyon’s unconventional choice of Zyra.
V.T’s comment was viewed by many Gen.G fans as an attempt to “downplay” Chovy. While it’s true that he hasn’t played Lucian in the Mid Lane for a long time, Chovy still demonstrated how he contributed to Gen.G’s overall gameplay. Therefore, according to many fans, labeling this champion as Chovy’s “accident” seems unreasonable.
However, there are also opinions suggesting that Chovy is always expected to dominate his lane. He then uses the time not only to farm but also to assist other lanes. With Lucian, these factors did not seem to operate very well. Chovy himself hasn’t played Lucian in the Mid Lane for a long time either.
As a well-known and influential commentator in the Vietnamese League of Legends scene, and one of the long-time commentators alongside the LCK, this incident will serve as yet another lesson for the commentator. Not long ago, he also made a sensitive remark regarding Peanut and Canyon, which clearly did not sit well with Peanut fans in Vietnam.
