Vel’Koz
This Void octopus has always been a highly potential unit, however, due to its heavy reliance on team composition or items, Vel’Koz was almost overlooked in several previous patches. However, with the Star Guardian composition becoming extremely hot in the current patch, this composition requires a unit capable of finishing off opponents with high damage, and Vel’Koz is the perfect piece.

The essence of Star Guardian units is to deal single-target damage primarily (Syndra, Zoe) or if they have area damage, they can’t cast their abilities multiple times (Neeko). Therefore, a Mage with long-range skills and area damage like Vel’Koz is perfect for solving the damage issues of the Star Guardian composition.

Jarvan IV
Although not completely overlooked, Jarvan IV has never been called an important unit that can be replaced at any moment. Even in compositions like Guardians, it’s common for Jarvan IV to be sold off when a Guardian Armor is available. However, with the 10.8 patch update and the Dark Star trait suddenly gaining more attention, Jarvan IV is continuously being purchased and has become hard to replace.

Essentially, the Dark Star composition needs top units to die as quickly as possible to provide damage for the backline or allow Shaco to finish off opponents. Therefore, Jarvan IV, at a low cost of 1 gold, can reach 2 stars early, being strong enough to sustain health in the early game yet weak enough to die and trigger the Dark Star effect later.
Lux
The reason Lux has become hot again is quite similar to Jarvan IV’s role in the Dark Star composition; this unit only needs to cast its ability once to go down and provide the Dark Star buff for other carries. Moreover, Lux is a unit that can be placed in any position and can act as a decoy for important enemy abilities, instead of your carry being the target.

Furthermore, with the emergence of Xerath, another Dark Star – Mage unit, Lux is a necessary unit to activate additional damage for your composition, helping to provide magical damage instead of just physical damage from Shaco and Jhin.

Master Yi
Although the Rebels were heavily nerfed in previous patches, the Blademaster composition centered around Master Yi is gradually dominating the Teamfight Tactics meta. With the presence of two new Galaxies, the Trade Sector and the Lagoon Galaxy, it’s common to stop at level 7 and roll for 3-star carries. Aside from Shaco being highly contested, Master Yi is the most suitable champion for these Galaxies.

Master Yi’s strength lies in his ability to deal true damage, countering compositions with strong shields like Guardians, Vanguard, or Fighters. If you do not intend to play Fighter – Void and need a significant amount of damage to penetrate the enemy team’s shields, then the Blademaster composition with Master Yi is the best choice.
