A few days ago, when the Development Corner article for Teamfight Tactics: Infinite Galaxy was published, the third season of the “auto chess” game left players utterly amazed. Not only the battlefield, the units, and the colorful chess pieces, but many new clans and systems were revealed, along with super unique and crazy mechanics that Riot Games introduced into Teamfight Tactics, exciting players immensely.

The most attention-grabbing aspect is undoubtedly the Mech-Pilot race, which has the ability to fuse into a Super Robot. Specifically, in the aforementioned article, Riot Games described that at the start of the round, 3 Mech-Pilot units will combine into a Super Robot until it is defeated. However, there are still many questions about how the stats of the Super Robot will be calculated? Is the Super Robot susceptible to counter-play? What will happen to the 3 individual units? And many more questions.

Therefore, in his latest stream, the lead designer of Teamfight Tactics – Riot Mortdog – spoke up to explain this race. Many people may find similarities with the Elemental race from season 1, but Mech-Pilot will be much more complex.

Riot Mortdog: “Let me explain how Mech-Pilot works for everyone. First, before the new round starts, there will be a display showing whether there are enough conditions to fuse into a Super Robot and where the new unit’s position will be. If so, the 3 Mech-Pilot units will fuse into a Super Robot, which still occupies a position on the battlefield and can be countered by items like The Blade of the Ruined King as usual. When the Super Robot dies, the 3 individual units will separate and fight as normal.”

So we can rest assured that when the Super Robot is defeated, the units that formed it will still live on and fight as usual. Therefore, a team composition using Mech-Pilot seems to have a huge advantage in terms of unit numbers as you not only have a high-damage, high-health Super Robot at the frontline, but when it is defeated, your 3 other units can still continue to fight. Will this gameplay of overwhelming numbers over “luck” be the main style of Mech-Pilot?

Garen, the War God, will be the 'Super Robot' that Mech-Pilots transform into.
