Steam brings good news for Vietnamese gamers on the first day of the new year
In the second half of 2024, the gaming community in Vietnam was extremely excited when they suddenly found themselves unable to access Steam to buy games or purchase items. For gamers who had not installed Steam, they could not even download the client from the website. Notably, this period coincided with the launch of Black Myth Wukong, forcing many players to experience it through YouTube with regret.
However, recently, many gamers from the ISPs that were said to have banned Steam have been able to download the client from the web and log in normally without needing to use any support tools. Notably, players using the ISPs that previously blocked Steam can now freely access the Steam Store to purchase games.
Steam’s return is good news for Vietnamese gamers
With Steam’s return, it may signal good news for Vietnamese gamers. Although many have been using special tools to bypass the “firewall”, the experience would surely be affected to some extent. Moreover, these methods are not safe, and installing such tools may come with attached viruses.
Currently, there has been no official announcement from Steam or the related ISPs, as well as the authorities. The only thing is, now that players can access Steam freely, they can temporarily leave their worries behind.
