On August 12th (Vietnam time), TheShy caused concern among Invictus Gaming fans and the League of Legends community in China with a clip posted on his personal YouTube channel titled “I’m Very Sorry…” accompanied by a description stating that TheShy would prepare to return to Korea in September without any mention of a return date. Coupled with a disappointing 2021 performance with IG, many fans believed this could be a farewell from TheShy to the white team and the LPL.
However, recently on his streaming channel, TheShy made some strong statements about his future in the LPL:

“Next year, I will try my best, but I also have not planned anything yet. I will have hand surgery next year and I’m not sure if I can return to compete or not. But it’s okay, if I play, I will definitely play in the LPL, I fit this environment better.”
TheShy’s statements during the live stream may temporarily reassure fans of IG and LPL. TheShy is currently suffering from hand and dental injuries, and if he undergoes surgery, he is likely to miss the Spring Split or even the entire 2022 season. However, at just 22 years old, he is still young enough to continue competing at a high level for several more years, even if he takes a one-year hiatus from professional play.
Additionally, TheShy’s assertion that he will only play in the LPL if he competes shows that he simply wants to return home to rest and has no intention of joining the LCK. With TheShy still in the picture, even if he may not remain with IG, the LPL retains one of the top-tier top laners in the League of Legends scene.
