In the penultimate week of the LCK Summer 2021 group stage, with all 6 playoff spots already claimed, the matches seemed to only hold significance for honor and ranking improvement. T1 was considered the team with the most opportunity to “climb the ranks”, as in their last 2 matches, they only had to face DragonX and Hanwha Life Esports in succession.

However, in the confrontation with DRX, T1 had quite a “tough” experience, as their opponents showed a determination to win. In both games, DRX was the team that took the initiative in the early game and continuously pressured T1. However, this team was unable to find a way to close out the game and let the victory slip away after crucial team fights.

Especially in game 2, which could be considered quite tense, as both teams contested every inch of advantage, and DRX continued to take the initiative by pushing close to T1’s third turret area. However, in such a “siege” situation, DRX’s young roster was punished by Faker.

Ruler Continues to Speak Out on Sensitive Incident

Ryze in the hands of the Demon King executed a very basic flank, but then he unexpectedly used the combo of Flash + E + W and successfully trapped Nidalee from DRX. Caught off guard, DRX completely fell apart, while the entire T1 team surged forward at the call of their captain, sweeping through the opposing team and finishing the game.

The highlight of Faker’s play lies in his approach angle. Both the E and W skills were launched at maximum range, while Ryze’s Flash at that moment was moving close to the wall. If timed poorly, Faker could very well have “face-planted” into the wall.

Moreover, identifying the opening for the team fight and handling it with great decisiveness also showcases Faker’s impressive strategic vision. He recognized the weakness of the opponents and was completely confident in his ability to handle the situation.

DRX’s victory helped T1 climb to the top 4 in the standings, and if everything goes smoothly in the final week of matches, meaning T1 continues to win while their competitors lose, Faker and his teammates could even have the chance to finish the group stage in the top 3 teams.
