Azir Blade Master – Season 2
Azir can be said to have burst onto the scene as the strongest carry champion in patch 10.1 simply by possessing the Sword of the Unknown and transforming into a Blade Master. This champion has the Sand tribe along with the ability to reduce armor, so players only need to combine Azir Blade Master with Sivir to be assured of backline damage. No matter how strong the enemy’s frontline is, Azir can easily “slice through” the enemy team’s backline because the Sand Soldiers of this champion in Season 2 will prioritize targeting the farthest enemy.
Due to the dominance of Azir Blade Master, and previously the Nocturne “grinder” composition, Riot Games had to implement a series of heavy nerfs to this class. First, they removed the ability to continuously activate the increased attack effect of Blade Master, and then the appearance rate of the Golden Spatula in the common selection rounds was no longer 100%. This led to compositions relying on borrowing strength from other tribes and systems being “canceled out,” with the Azir Blade Master team being one of them.
Kayle – Season 3
Kayle of Season 3 can be considered the most perfect champion Riot has ever introduced to Teamfight Tactics in terms of damage dealing. The combination of the Saint and Blade Master tribes is more than enough for Kayle to become a monster on the battlefield. Furthermore, Kayle’s skill renders all efforts to build armor-boosting items by opponents completely wasted as it provides an overwhelming amount of magic damage.

Thus, the meta of the first half of Season 3 was always dominated by the Kayle – Time Keeper composition at the top, regardless of how many times she was nerfed. Perhaps Riot Games realized their mistake and removed not only Kayle but also the Saint tribe from Teamfight Tactics when the mid-Season 3 update was rolled out. However, in just a few short months, Kayle completely mastered the meta of the first half of Season 3 with her immense power.
Aphelios – Season 4
If in League of Legends, Aphelios is nicknamed “200 Years” due to his excessively unreasonable power, something similar also occurred in Teamfight Tactics Season 4. With the “level hacking” advantage from the Moon tribe, 4-star Aphelios can deal an incredibly high amount of damage that the opponents have no way to counter. Remember that Aphelios’ turret cannot be targeted and deals damage equal to the primary champion; it’s like a cloning ability but at a higher level.
As a result, the meta of the early patches of Season 4 revolved around hyper-rolling the Moon tribe and pushing Aphelios’ power to its highest possible level. Therefore, this champion was heavily nerfed from damage stats, energy, to the functionality of the Turret in patch 10.23. Nevertheless, it cannot be denied that Aphelios at his peak power was as “broken” as Kayle in Season 3 or Azir Blade Master before him.
