Known as one of the most famous figures in the World of Warcraft community and the boyfriend of female TFT streamer Becca, Reckful’s passing has left many in mourning within both the WOW and League of Legends communities.
However, the reason behind Reckful’s death remains a question mark. Initially, Reckful’s suicide was believed to be linked to a proposal Tweet directed at Becca. This Tweet went unanswered by the female streamer, and following the heartbreaking incident, Becca expressed her deep remorse, stating that she hadn’t checked Twitter at the time the post was made, just a few hours before Reckful passed away.
What is notable here is the somewhat unusual reaction from the gaming community towards Reckful’s proposal to his girlfriend. After he posted the Tweet, many Twitter users accessed it and left harsh comments criticizing, belittling, and even cursing Reckful, accusing him of trivializing his romantic relationship.
Upon inquiry from a section of fans of the couple Reckful and Becca, it appears that the negative reaction from netizens stemmed from a recent allegation made by another female streamer who accused Reckful of harassment and sexual assault at a party.
This female streamer goes by the name Indiefoxxlive, and notably, she did not provide any specific evidence, not even the time and location of the alleged incident. Nevertheless, Twitch decided to ban Reckful’s streaming channel, while the streamer himself faced a barrage of criticism.
This is why Reckful’s proposal Tweet became a topic of controversy, with critics arguing that it was a disrespectful and trivializing act towards women, subsequently labeling Reckful as a perverse individual and presuming him “guilty” in the matter involving Indiefoxxlive.
Due to signs of depression leading up to this incident, along with the intense social media backlash, Reckful chose to end his life to escape the surrounding controversies. Following the incident, Becca defended her boyfriend, asserting that he was a serious, lovable person who always took his work seriously. Meanwhile, Indiefoxxlive’s Twitter account was switched to private after she was identified as being involved in the case.
