In the history of League of Legends, many champions have been released, and a large number of them are still popular to this day. In fact, some champions are considered to transcend the meta, meaning they do not rely on any updates or adjustments, such as Azir or Lee Sin.

However, more than that are the champions who, thanks to changes, have become “overpowered” choices. Of course, Riot still tries to create a balanced game, but it’s clear that this publisher has not been very successful. The champion currently “dominating” in Summer 2024 is the most evident proof.

The name that is making many teams “cry” even though Summer 2024 has just begun is Skarner. In fact, Skarner has not just recently been used a lot. But it must be said that in just a short time, Skarner has become a very popular choice. As of now, Skarner has been banned 596 times and picked 232 times. For those who don’t know, throughout the Spring tournament, Skarner was banned only 23 times and appeared in just 2 matches.

The “terrifying” disparity of Skarner is recorded in all domestic tournaments around the world. Notably, even in the Fearless Draft mode currently applied in the LPL, Skarner also almost completely dominates the Top Lane position. Specifically, this champion has been banned 34 times and picked 30 times. In other words, if one team bans/picks Skarner in one game, the other team might do the same in the next game.

Riot’s champion is proving too effective, and no team has found a way to counter him except for outright banning. Skarner might lose lane but will still be strong towards the end of the game. If this champion “snowballs” early, the game will almost always be one-sided, as seen in the recent match between Gen.G and T1.

Meanwhile, Riot has yet to show any moves to reduce Skarner’s power in the upcoming updates. And perhaps, teams can only temporarily eliminate this champion by banning him while waiting for Riot to take action.
