The Old Curse Continues to Haunt, Slayder Powerless but Fans Offer Enthusiastic Suggestions

Slayder probably doesn't understand why he has such bad luck on the international stage.

During the mid-season transfer period of 2023, a “blockbuster” was activated when Marksman Slayder decided to leave SBTC Esports (SE) and join GAM Esports (GAM). The yellow-black team is not only a fierce rival of SE but also boasts many of the top titles in VCS currently. For a player who always yearns to experience the atmosphere of international tournaments, GAM is the right choice. GAM also receives a high-quality addition with Slayder.

Subsequently, Slayder was called up to the Vietnam League of Legends (LoL) team for the Hangzhou ASIAD. Many fans were thrilled for the former Team Flash (TF) star as he could now gain more valuable experience and exposure for his career. However, obstacles began to arise when the Vietnam LoL team could not participate in the Road to Asian Games 2022 due to paperwork issues. GAM itself has not performed particularly well in the VCS Hoàng Hôn 2023.

Recently, VIRESA and the VCS organizing committee announced a change in the roster for the upcoming ASIAD Vietnam LoL team. Accordingly, all players currently belonging to SBTC Esports (SE) will leave the team. Replacing the 3 players previously wearing the “Pink Chicken” (Dia1, Slayder, Palette) will be Kati (GAM) and the duo Artemis – Bie (Team Whales).

In fact, with the cases of Dia1 and Palette, fans could have anticipated it as SE is also facing many troubles in the domestic league. However, the case of Slayder is truly unfortunate. The 2000-born marksman has always yearned to step onto the international stage and he is more experienced than Artemis. However, Slayder’s “bad luck” leaves both him and his fans disappointed once again.

On his personal page, Slayder also expressed his powerlessness and accepted the decision of the relevant authorities. Meanwhile, his fans enthusiastically comforted him. Some even suggested that Slayder should… perform a ritual to change his luck. Notably, this suggestion received much agreement as it is clear that Slayder has had too much bad luck with international tournaments. Even when it seemed nothing could hold him back, Slayder still had to stay home.

Of course, these suggestions are just light-hearted comments meant to relieve tension. But it is clear that the negativity is heavily impacting the players, regardless of whether it is related to those troubles.
