Faker’s title “Unkillable Demon King” came about quite by chance
Perhaps by now, you don’t even need to be a fan to know Faker’s title “Unkillable Demon King”. Not only does it showcase Faker’s ability to navigate and dodge with high mobility champions in-game, but this nickname for the G.O.A.T also reflects his incredibly long and glorious career since he started his professional journey. In the League of Legends scene, no player has had such a long career while remaining loyal to just one team like Faker. It can be said that from a fun nickname in the game, “Unkillable Demon King” has inadvertently become the most fitting title to describe Faker’s greatness.
However, Faker was mistaken in believing that his title was given by fans (and perhaps many fans think so too). In reality, the title “Unkillable Demon King” was first used by Cool from Oh My God – an LPL team, to refer to Faker during a match at the 2013 World Championship. In that match, Faker played Gragas, and despite being targeted by Cool, Lovelin, and Bigpomelo with nearly all their abilities, Faker was still able to escape. In the post-match interview, Cool referred to Faker as “The Unkillable Demon King”.
The nickname will be exclusively for Faker
In fact, throughout the history of League of Legends, there have been quite a few spectacular escapes from ganks. However, Faker’s nickname “Unkillable Demon King” cannot be changed. As mentioned earlier, that nickname now also symbolizes his glorious career, which has spanned the entire history of League of Legends. Furthermore, as of now, no player has demonstrated that they can maintain a long career while only playing for one team like Faker. Even bigger names than Faker in terms of age (Impact, Jankos, GuGer…) have changed teams at least once in their careers.

And at present, it probably doesn’t matter who first gave Faker this nickname. But it can be said with near certainty that the only one deserving of this title in the end is Faker himself.
