The MSI King of League of Legends Officially “Passed Away”
Over many seasons, although far removed from the spotlight for a long time, the situation of RNG – the MSI king as of now still captures the community’s attention. This is because RNG is not only a former giant of the LPL but also a source of pride for the region with the nickname “Royal Legion”. At one point, RNG was the only hope of the LPL when facing off against the LCK. However, recently, RNG officially announced its departure from League of Legends.

Accordingly, on the official X page of the team, the short status line reads, “What can be said is that RNG has officially disappeared.” Accompanied by a photo of player Uzi’s back, surrounded by scattered trophies and a broken, devastated computer screen symbolizing the crisis and collapse period of the once “Royal Legion.”
The Fate of the “MSI King” RNG Was Predictable
For many years, RNG has been mired in backstage troubles related to finance and legal issues. Continuous lawsuits, exposed debts… have truly forced RNG to “give up”. Even former stars of RNG like Letme, Mlxg, and Uzi… whether they wanted to or not, had to take their old team to court to claim their rightful benefits. From being the pride of the LPL, RNG is now only mentioned with a sigh.

It can be said that, although no longer at the peak of glory, RNG is still the only team to date that has won the MSI championship 3 times – the most in League of Legends history. In the upcoming season and beyond, there may be names that surpass RNG. However, the mark that RNG left in the flow of League of Legends is undeniable. Only, on January 8 (Vietnam time), the “king” has passed away.
