Recently, the Korean news site Rookiest shared a deeply moving story about a disabled gamer named Kim Ae-in. Born in 1995, this gamer is not as fortunate as his peers, as he suffers from a rare disease that prevents his limbs from developing normally. Thus, he has been reliant on a wheelchair since childhood. The almost sole joy of this gamer is immersing himself in League of Legends matches, primarily playing as an AD Carry with champions like Ezreal, Caitlyn, and Ashe.

In a post on the Fmkorea forum, Kim Ae-in expressed that he loves the game League of Legends because it allows him to connect with friends and many others. Even when encountering toxic players who insult him, Kim Ae-in does not get angry; instead, he feels happy that his life is more colorful. “Thanks to League of Legends, I have made a lot of close friends; this is probably what makes me the happiest,” Kim Ae-in shared.

Like any regular League of Legends player, Kim Ae-in also aims to improve his skills and wants to climb to higher ranks. In previous seasons, he successfully escaped Silver rank and reached Gold tier. Therefore, Kim Ae-in is determined to achieve Platinum rank this season. However, he also feels that his body is nearing its limits, and he will face many challenges in achieving this goal.

“My body is gradually reaching its limits, and the time I can spend playing League of Legends is becoming less and less. Typically, those in situations like mine pass away at 24-25 years old. I was born in 1995, and I’m fortunate to still be alive now. I really want to reach a higher rank; it’s like the ultimate challenge of my life,” Kim Ae-in shared emotionally on the Fmkorea forum.
After Kim Ae-in’s post was shared, many gamers voiced their support for him to reach his dream rank. However, Kim Ae-in was unable to achieve that goal, as in the latest update, he stopped at Gold II rank. Although he could not reach his goal, Kim Ae-in’s effort in such difficult circumstances has inspired the League of Legends community immensely.
