A few days ago, Riot Games announced that they would enhance the effectiveness of the punishment system to alleviate the community’s outrage over the toxicity in League of Legends. Increasing effectiveness is a good thing, but Riot Games made a blunder by wrongly banning many players, including severe penalties like a 14-day account ban.

The latest case noted by the community involves a female gamer known in-game as Syanne, the girlfriend of player Pobelter “200 IQ”. If this girl had made chat lines that were mocking, insulting, or provoking someone, it would be a different story. However, this female gamer simply advised her teammates to buy magic resistance items when facing Corki and ended up receiving a 14-day account ban.

With this absurd account ban, Riot Games once again became the target of mockery from the community for its punishment system. Indeed, people want Riot to impose stricter penalties, but the targets should be the game disruptors and those with negative attitudes, not ordinary players who casually chat like this. If this situation continues, soon no one will dare to say anything while playing League of Legends.

Artist Nebura: “That’s not the future Voyboy wanted PepeHands” (Voyboy recently commented on the toxicity in League of Legends and urged Riot Games to take action – Ed).

I was once permanently banned just for defending my girlfriend, who was insulted repeatedly in a match, and asking “How can Caitlyn go from 0/5 to 9/5?”.
Suggesting teammates to buy magic resistance items? Too toxic.

Streamer Shiphtur: “Riot’s system works as intended, huh?”
Do some people at Riot think Corki only deals physical damage and feel offended?
Player Akaadian: “Wait, I never thought you would get banned, you are one of the least toxic people I have ever met.”
Syanne: “Exactly, I don’t understand.”

Syanne is a well-known female gamer and streamer in the North American League of Legends community because she has been associated with this game for a long time and is also the girlfriend of player Pobelter. That’s why Syanne’s post received such significant attention from the community.

Perhaps Riot Games needs to reconsider its system or at least provide those banned with some convincing evidence, rather than punishing accounts for simply suggesting item builds like in this case. Indeed, gamers need a less toxic gaming environment, but that doesn’t mean randomly banning accounts like this.
