Since 2021 until now, Riot has launched quite a few champions, including reworks, bringing the total to nearly 10 champions. Among these, aside from the familiar names, most of the newly released champions have been considered extremely powerful, whether in normal games, ranked play, or professional matches. Notable examples include Viego, Gwen, and a name that is gradually establishing itself as Riot’s ‘200 years of experience’ – the new champion Zeri.

Upon release, this champion received a plethora of mixed reviews. Some professional players even admitted that Zeri was too weak, requiring too many conditions to thrive in the professional arena, notably the ADC of T1 – Gumayusi. Later, players discovered Zeri’s extremely “overpowered” interaction with the item Runaan’s Hurricane, which prompted Riot to immediately nerf this interaction.

However, Riot August – the “father” of Zeri also admitted that the recent adjustments were still futile as Zeri remained too strong with her “core” item, Runaan’s Hurricane. Recently, Riot had to release yet another nerf update for this new champion before she could qualify for appearances in upcoming professional matches.

On the other hand, Riot August asserted that no matter how strong Zeri is right now, or if there are still some bugs, compared to the “Bug God” of the League of Legends – the Ruined King Viego, she stands “no chance”. And Viego is also a product of August. Remember that when the Ruined King was first released, many bugs appeared alongside this champion. Among these, the most famous was the one-shot bug that could take out all targets on the map, from outer turrets, Baron, Dragon, to Viego’s Nexus.

It is evident that the consistent release of new champions in League of Legends is a good sign indicating that the game is still developing steadily. However, the fact that these champions come with numerous bugs, glitches, or overwhelming power compared to the rest also leads to the gaming community having experiences that are not particularly pleasant.
