Chronoshift is a newly announced community project that is attracting the attention of many gamers. It is known to be a fan-made project, not owned or interfered with by Riot Games, carried out by a group of League of Legends players aiming to recreate the old versions of the game.
True to its name, Chronoshift (named after Zilean’s ultimate ability) will allow players to “turn back time” to the old decade, experiencing the most primitive versions of League of Legends, with the characteristic cartoon graphics. And even those elements that seemed to have disappeared forever, like reworked champions, the old Summoner’s Rift map, or the once-overpowered item builds that have now faded into obscurity, will also be fully recreated.

The first version expected to launch will be the 2010 version of League of Legends, which is before the first World Championship held (2011). In the future, the development team plans to reconstruct “less old” versions, with plans to expand to seasons 2014. According to the project development team, Chronoshift has completed its first version and is currently running on test servers, including:
– 65 champions released initially, from Trundle and earlier.
– 14 old summoner spells that were removed.
– The old Summoner’s Rift map (including both winter and autumn versions).
– The Twisted Treeline map and the Proving Grounds practice map.
– All old items, rune pages, and mastery pages.

It is known that the development team has been working for several years, however, until now Chronoshift has officially taken shape, which is why the project is only now being announced.
Some opinions are concerned that Riot Games may intervene in this project, as it relates to copyright issues. However, many are more optimistic, believing this is a very interesting idea, and it is likely that Riot will intervene, but in a more positive way, that is to acquire the operating group, paying them to continue developing this game mod.
Nevertheless, if Chronoshift is officially operated, it will be an extremely interesting experience for the League of Legends gaming community. Long-time players will have the chance to “return to their childhood” with the very primitive first versions that hold many unforgettable memories of the game, while new players will get to know a very different League of Legends from the current one, where once existed “quirky” champions like Gragas, Master Yi, or Tryndamere… building ability power items.
