Recently, images of the 2021 Worlds skin for EDward Gaming have officially “landed” on the PBE servers. And in the upcoming 12.9 patch, these skins will be officially released to gamers. However, just from the current images, this skin line has received very positive feedback. The League of Legends community, especially in the LPL region, believes that this is the best Worlds skin Riot has ever created to honor the champions.

But before the EDG Worlds skin, there were also very special skins honoring the champions of the most prestigious tournament in League of Legends. And here are perhaps the 5 best Worlds skins that Riot has ever brought to the League of Legends community.
5. SKT T1 2016
The year 2016 was perhaps one of the most special years in League of Legends history. This was the first and only year so far that marked a team winning both MSI and Worlds. Moreover, this team was also the first and only one in League of Legends history to defend the Worlds title. And SKT T1 was that team. Even more notably, during the 2016 season, Riot demonstrated a clear improvement in skin design, especially the Worlds skins to honor Faker and his teammates.

With dominant colors of red, combined with gold, purple, and dark blue, the SKT T1 2016 Worlds skin line stands out for its aesthetics, harmonious color scheme, and design that feels both cool and incredibly powerful. Notably, this was also the first and only year to date that a coach received a custom eye model. That coach is none other than the legendary kkOma, and he is the only one to have received this honor from Riot so far.

4. Samsung Galaxy 2017
Maintaining the “skin-making performance” from 2016, the SSG 2017 Worlds skin is another step forward for Riot. With a design heavily influenced by Korean culture, from the smallest details like the flowers in Xayah’s hands, to the hoods of champions like Rakan, Ezreal, Taliyah, and Jarvan IV. The SSG costumes, while not overly elaborate, exude an ancient charm reminiscent of Korea’s feudal dynasties – the homeland of the champions.
Notably, this is one of the first Worlds skins that has been intricately designed with a winter background and snow. This is also one of the skins that saw more investment from Riot compared to the SKT T1 Worlds skin from 2016.

3. Damwon Gaming 2020
Although they could not defend their Worlds title after reaching the finals again, and had a disappointing Spring 2022, DWG KIA can still hold their heads high. Their skins are among the most beautiful Worlds skins ever produced by Riot to honor the holders of the most prestigious championship trophy in League of Legends.
However, there has been a lot of mixed feedback regarding this skin line. While Kennen, Leona, and somewhat Nidalee look quite appealing, Twisted Fate and Jhin do not stand out as much. Twisted Fate’s skin clearly showcases a blend of Eastern and Western elements but doesn’t quite hit the mark. Meanwhile, Ghost’s Jhin skin has been criticized for being a bit… “derivative” of SKT T1.

1. Invictus Gaming 2018 – EDward Gaming 2021
And the top spot goes to the Worlds skins of IG in 2018 and EDG in 2021. According to some gamers’ opinions, the IG skin designs portray characters as goddesses, while the EDG skins depict male champions as demigods. Zoe, on the other hand, appears as a little princess surrounded by incredibly cool and powerful knights.
The IG 2018 and EDG 2021 skins can be considered the pinnacle of Riot’s design. For the skins of TheShy and his teammates, one can clearly see the deep, ancient, mysterious, and magical Chinese colors. The feathers of the champions exude elegance and strength. The cold yet alluring faces of Kai’Sa, Fiora, LeBlanc, Camille, Irelia, and Rakan perfectly match the overall monochromatic yet not monotonous design of the skin line.

As for the EDG skins, there’s not much more to say. With the designs already revealed, along with effects and secrets hidden within them, it’s more than enough for gamers to be ready to splurge on one of the most beautiful Worlds skins in League of Legends history.
