The Awakening Mechanic in TFT Season 15 – Forcing Players to Choose a “Champion”
After several days of experience, players have somewhat shaped their gameplay in TFT Season 15. In this new season, Riot Games has boldly added a completely new mechanic that changes the entire dynamics of the match. One of the most impactful features is undoubtedly Awakening. This is perhaps the most intriguing feature for players when it was first introduced, and it has led many to rethink their familiar gameplay strategies.

When Champions are “Divinized” Thanks to Awakening in TFT Season 15
In previous seasons, you only needed to find 3-star champions or Trait/System Emblems to be the core damage dealer, but now the story has changed. Season 15 introduces the Awakening Fruit, a special item that appears consistently during Rounds 2. When you use the Awakening Fruit on a champion, that champion will be awakened and receive an incredibly powerful effect.

These effects can include massive damage boosts, outrageous healing, or even a special effect exclusive to that champion. If lucky, players might get specific Awakening effects tailored for certain champions, such as Gwen’s Thread Weaver or Lee Sin’s Gomu Gomu no Rocket.
Players Must Strategize Around Awakening in TFT Season 15
The introduction of the Awakening mechanic has completely transformed how players operate during matches. Previously, players could shape their team composition right from the start. Now, everything must be adaptable. When receiving an Awakening Fruit for a strong champion, players can immediately pivot to a team composition with that champion as the core damage dealer. This creates more surprising and diverse gameplay options.

Additionally, one of the most notable changes is the “level 4 roll” strategy. Many players are now willing to “sell health” to roll for strong Awakening champions early on, in order to gain an advantage later in the match. If successful, you can easily snowball the entire game.
An Interesting Mechanic in TFT Season 15 but Hard to Utilize
Awakening brings diversity, but it also carries the risk of imbalance. Some players argue that having an Awakening Fruit for a strong champion early on can create an overwhelming advantage, especially when that champion has not yet been “nerfed” by Riot.
However, this is also a “difficult” mechanic. Awakening will introduce “random” upgrades. And if you cannot obtain sufficiently good upgrades, the match can easily spiral out of control to an irretrievable extent.
