Overview of the Monkey King – Guardian Comp Strength in TFT Season 12.
Although priced at 3 gold, the Monkey King has been granted special skills and traits by Riot Games in TFT Season 12. Simply put, the Monkey King currently resembles the Threat champions, lacking a specific trait but possessing powerful skills. This unit has a passive that allows the Monkey King to gain an additional 30% armor/magic resistance from all sources. Moreover, the Monkey King’s skill creates shields and deals damage based on these defensive stats.

Thanks to the aforementioned skill, the Monkey King becomes an extremely durable champion at 3 stars. With a build featuring multiple Stoneplate Beasts, the “Immortal Monkey King” can withstand significant damage from opponents by himself. Combined with the continuous healing and energy regeneration from the Guardian trait, the Monkey King can truly achieve an “immortal” state if built correctly.

Building the Monkey King – Guardian Comp in TFT Season 12
In the early game, players should aim for a balance between tanking and damage. Specifically, the 2 Vanguard threshold is a reasonable choice since both Blitzcrank and Warwick are priced at 1 gold and are easy to upgrade to 2 stars. Additionally, players should select magical carry units in the backline to hold items for Syndra.

After reaching level 6, players can stop buying experience to focus on upgrading Syndra to 3 stars. If not many Syndra appear at level 6, players should consider leveling up to 7 and rerolling for Monkey King 3 stars first. During this process, players should also keep an eye on and purchase all Syndra available in the shop. With the 30% appearance rate of 2 gold units at level 7, players have a solid chance of upgrading this unit alongside the Monkey King.

Once Syndra and the Monkey King are successfully upgraded, players should aim to level up to level 8 (or even 9) as quickly as possible. This will allow players to field versatile Guardian champions like Rakan, Bard, or even Morgana. At this point, the Monkey King will have substantial healing and defensive stats, making him capable of tanking in the front lines.

Some Tips When Playing the Monkey King – Guardian Comp
As mentioned earlier, with the passive that increases armor/magic resistance, the “core item” for the Monkey King is always the Stoneplate Beast. Additionally, players should also craft a Morello’s Evil Tome for one of the secondary carries to supplement healing reduction capabilities. In terms of Augment, upgrades that grant the Champion Copy Machine should be prioritized to upgrade the Monkey King and Syndra as quickly as possible.
