The Downfall of Shadow and Star Guardian
In the recently updated version 10.8b, the details you can check out HERE, Shadow and Star Guardian are the two compositions heavily affected. The most miserable is Shadow, as this entire tribe has seen a reduction in both Attack Damage and Ability Power, plus the key unit Shaco lost up to 100% of his critical damage. Many jokingly say that Shaco, once the “carry of the team,” is now only useful for activating the trait.

Star Guardian fared a bit better with only Syndra being nerfed, but that was enough for this “high school girl squad” to suffer a drop in power due to their heavy reliance on the Tear of the Goddess being exposed. Naturally, after such a heavy nerf, the number of players sticking with these two compositions will relatively decrease and shift to more stable teams.
Bruiser – Gunner and the “not being nerfed means it’s buffed” situation
Although in a few previous updates, the Bruiser units had their bonus health slightly reduced, it barely affected their tankiness. Moreover, the Gunner has seen almost no changes since Season 3 launched, making this composition essentially a safe choice for a position in the top 4. With a bit of luck, even a higher position is entirely possible.

Therefore, Bruiser – Gunner always ranks high despite not being too flashy. Coupled with the decline of Shadow and Star Guardian, Jinx and her friends naturally claim the top position. If you genuinely want to rank up steadily, our advice is to build Bruiser – Gunner as the safest option.

Kayle’s Ascension and Overwhelming Power
One of the weaknesses Riot intentionally introduced into TFT is that high-damage compositions must reach certain combo thresholds to balance the game, such as 4 Gunners, 6 Bladesingers, 6 Star Guardians… However, Riot seems to have forgotten about Kayle, as this Tech Angel possesses a champion quality that doesn’t require many supporting champions to be strong and can easily wipe out the entire enemy team.

Almost immediately after the 10.8b patch was released, the two compositions centered around Kayle, Bladesinger – Chrono and Bladesinger – Cybernetic, surged to the top of the meta. This craze has led to everyone continuously playing Kayle, with those lucky enough to get a 2-star Kayle first holding a significant advantage. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Kayle is currently the only thing that exists; whether other units are good or not is irrelevant.
