The Power of Kai’Sa in the “New” Star Guardian Comp

In patch 8.5, Kai’Sa received a new trait called Quick Draw. Basically, this trait helps Kai’Sa activate enhanced attacks from her abilities more frequently. Furthermore, the additional attacks from the Quick Draw effect still provide energy for Kai’Sa. Combined with Star Guardian, this unit possesses extremely high damage output.

Moreover, the introduction of Nilah in this comp also addresses the healing deficiency from the Fighter and Guardian champions. In summary, the Star Guardian – Quick Draw comp currently appears to be quite comprehensive in terms of damage output and durability.

Building a Comp Around Kai’Sa

In the early game, Lucian is a very important champion that players need to invest in. This character is the perfect item holder for Kai’Sa in the later stages. With a frontline position, players can flexibly choose between Fighters and Guardians to ensure durability.

Moving into the mid-game, Kai’Sa will be brought in to replace Lucian. Nilah and Riven are also champions that need to be added at this time. After reaching level 7, players should stop buying experience and roll the Shop to find ways to upgrade 3-cost carries to 3 stars.

In the late game, players will add 2 units, Ekko and Miss Fortune, to the comp. Ekko will complete the 4 Star Guardian, 2 Protector milestone to ensure the comp operates at its best. Miss Fortune serves as a secondary carry and adds wide-area magic damage to the comp.

Regarding Technology Augment choices, Gemstone Gauntlet is a very strong upgrade that helps Kai’Sa and Miss Fortune deal extremely good damage. Additionally, upgrades like Kai’Sa’s Static Electrocution or Miss Fortune’s Bounty Hunter are both Hero Augments worth selecting. In terms of items, Kai’Sa really needs Statikk Shiv and Guinsoo’s Rageblade.

Conclusion

After the 13.6b update, the comp centered around Kai’Sa is gradually making a comeback as the Hacker meta weakens. Even in the upcoming patch 13.7, the Quick Draw trait is set to receive buffs. Therefore, the Star Guardian – Quick Draw comp seems to be an effective path to rank up in the near future.
