Recently, a serious bug was discovered in League of Legends related to the champion Ornn on the official server clusters. This bug (once again) was uncovered by Vandiril, and it is deemed extremely critical because it made Ornn’s power “infinite,” significantly impacting the matches he appeared in.
Specifically, this bug allowed Ornn’s W ability to deal damage across the entire map in a straight line, but in the opposite direction of the skill’s intended aim. Many players took advantage of this bug to climb ranks, despite Riot Games quickly fixing it afterward. However, to exploit this bug, players had to perform quite a few mouse pointer operations.

However, the emergence of such bugs is not an uncommon story; what’s noteworthy is that in the Chinese League of Legends area, Tencent Games recently announced the banning of over 3000 League of Legends accounts for the offense of exploiting this game bug.
All accounts received a minimum penalty of a 3-year ban, and depending on the severity of the exploitation, some players faced even harsher punishments.
Although Tencent did not disclose how they identified the players who exploited the game bug, the Chinese League of Legends community speculated that the publisher had checked match histories to find accounts with an unusually high rate of selecting Ornn during the time the bug occurred.

However, this incident has sparked a fierce wave of controversy within the League of Legends community, with a significant portion of players criticizing the publisher as well as Riot Games, questioning why the bug was an oversight by the operational team, yet players are the ones facing penalties.
Meanwhile, the charge of “exploiting a game bug” is an accusation without specific evidence; in reality, Ornn is currently a very strong champion in the current meta, so it’s not surprising that players prioritize choosing him:
– Why is it that Riot claims League of Legends rarely has bugs, yet now the fault lies with the players?
– I’ve been playing Ornn for ages and didn’t even know about this bug, so if I happen to win a rank match while the bug was active, will I get banned too?
– Banning players is quick, but the game keeps having bugs that never get fixed.
– If you don’t know, don’t make random judgments; this bug requires users to perform many unusual operations (like W going in the opposite direction of the target), meaning once it appears, it can only be due to players intentionally using it. So, these players are not unjustly banned.
– Just let these guys face Ornn and be taken down without knowing why they died, and let’s see if they can still sit there criticizing the publisher and philosophizing.
