With just over a week to go, MSI 2022 is set to officially kick off, and according to the latest announcement from Riot, the opening match will draw significant attention, featuring a showdown between T1 and Saigon Buffalo. This is viewed as SGB’s toughest challenge in the MSI 2022 group stage. Returning to the international arena after two seasons, SGB faces what can be considered the strongest team in the tournament at this time. However, VCS fans are hopeful that the “Buffalo Herd” will give their all and create some surprises.

However, putting aside the technical aspects, on the evening of May 1 (Vietnam time), Riot released a teaser clip for MSI 2022. This clip features highlights from teams that have delivered outstanding performances in previous MSI tournaments.
The problem is, most of the clips used in this teaser are from… the 2021 World Championship, except for clips of G2 Esports since the “Circus” was absent from last year’s Worlds. It is evident that T1 is shown in the clip wearing the 2021 Worlds uniform, with Canna still on the roster. There’s also the presence of Ghost in the DWG KIA jersey and Invictus Gaming, a team that last participated in MSI three years ago.

After watching the clip, not only did the Vietnamese League of Legends community feel outraged, but international League of Legends fans also vehemently criticized Riot. The majority opinion is that Riot has been too “lazy” by reusing almost all the clips from the 2021 World Championship in this teaser. Previous MSIs also had plenty of highlights and beautiful moments from the teams. Moreover, this clip misses a host of teams competing in MSI 2022 this year.

However, some others believe that as the tournament approaches, Riot may release an official video about the event. It could be at that time when the official clip for the tournament is revealed, featuring all the teams participating this time.
