Technology – Assault
Somehow, in Teamfight Tactics Season 6.5, Riot Games bestowed this composition with elements that are almost the strongest, making it extremely unbalanced. Early in the game, Sejuani and Rek’Sai are a dominant duo, but by the late game, Sivir and Irelia working together can deal an immense amount of damage. With Sivir’s splash damage capability and Irelia’s Blade Surge skill, this duo can easily wipe out the enemy team’s formation in no time.
Then, in patch 12.4, Riot Games comprehensively nerfed this composition in both the early and late game stages. Specifically, Sejuani and Rek’Sai will face significant nerfs to their tankiness, making the Technology team much more fragile in the early game. With the 4-cost carries, both Irelia and Sivir have their damage output reduced, and even the Technology trait itself has seen a decrease in shield creation and damage buffing capabilities. With such comprehensive nerfs, the Technology – Assault team will become significantly weaker.
Bruiser – Renata
It’s not just the Technology team that has been affected; the nerfs to Sejuani and Rek’Sai have also significantly weakened the Bruiser – Renata composition. Remember, this composition usually relies on the “tankiness” of the Bruisers along with decent damage output without needing many items from Rek’Sai to get through the early game. Now, with both Rek’Sai and Sejuani’s health and AD reduced, the damage output from the Bruiser team will be much lower.
Not stopping there, even if you manage to reach level 8, Renata’s damage is also significantly reduced at both 1-star and 2-star levels. Not to mention that Silco’s heavy nerf to his buffing ability and the Boss effect also weakens the variations of the Bruiser – Renata team considerably in the late game. Essentially, these are reasonable nerfs from Riot as this composition has been proving to be too dominant with strong tankiness and overly high damage output.
The Inventor and Friends
Although the Inventor team only had a minor change—removing Heimerdinger and transferring this trait to Ekko—it has opened up quite a few powerful playstyles. For example, Inventor compositions combined with Kha’Zix, Draven, and Irelia have continuously emerged and shown immense effectiveness. The main reason behind this is that players have discovered the incredibly strong AD buffing ability from the Technology Bear on the aforementioned physical carries.
In the upcoming patch 12.4b, the over-reliance on the power of the Technology Bear is likely to be reduced as Riot is set to nerf this unit. Specifically, the AD buffing ability of the Technology Bear will drop from 100% to 70%, and the nerf to Ekko’s attack speed buff will also significantly affect the strength that the Inventor team possesses. Of course, this won’t be enough to push the Inventor team out of the meta, but at least it will lessen its overpowering dominance considerably.
