In Teamfight Tactics Season 9, Riot Games has created several Tech Augments to change gameplay or enhance the power of certain champions. Therefore, League of Legends players often humorously refer to these types of augments as Hero Augments since they share similar characteristics with the mechanics from Season 8. These upgrades are expected by Riot to create some unique gameplay styles.

However, reality shows that most of these Hero Augments are quite weak. This was confirmed by the Project Director of Teamfight Tactics – Riot Mortdog, who stated that only Warwick has stable power. Meanwhile, the upgrades for Sett, Kassadin, Swain, and Galio do not meet expectations.
“According to the data we have collected, Warwick’s Hero Augment proves to be the most effective. Meanwhile, the upgrades for Swain, Sett, Galio, and Kassadin are all extremely weak. Their win rates and pick rates are both very low. Perhaps the value they provide is too little, and the team will look for ways to address this,” Riot Mortdog shared.

Essentially, Warwick’s Hero Augment is effective due to the inherent strength of the Challenger system. Meanwhile, the other champions do not benefit from this privilege, so the effectiveness of their Hero Augments is also very limited. For example, Kassadin has significantly weakened after the recent nerf to the Guardian system. As a result, Kassadin’s Hero Augment has also weakened considerably.

Of course, the idea of boosting certain 2-cost champions to become carry with Hero Augments is not bad at all. However, Riot Games has made some choices that seem unreasonable or do not grant enough power to these upgrades. Hopefully, with patch 13.14 upcoming, Riot will make adjustments to make the upgrades for Sett, Kassadin, Galio, and Swain more useful.
