Just a few hours ago, the Head Designer of Teamfight Tactics – Riot Mortdog posted a video explaining patch 10.8 on social media. This continues to be another major patch to balance the currently strong compositions and traits, as well as adjust the monetary and damage calculation systems, and introduce new Galaxies to the game.

Most of the champion changes in this patch 10.8 are not particularly noteworthy, just slight increases or decreases in basic stats of champions. The most notable changes are probably for Shaco and Aurelion Sol, as these two champions have been modified the most. For Shaco, this champion has been heavily nerfed in skill damage, providing only 350% critical damage at 3-star level. As for Aurelion Sol, he receives a buff to his defense stats to bring the Rebel composition back a bit instead of being sidelined in patch 10.7.

The first major change will be the addition of the new champion Xerath to the game. This will be a 5-cost unit (meaning extremely powerful late game) with the Void trait and Sorcerer class. His skill is described as Xerath transforming into an ascended form for 6/8/45 seconds, with each attack summoning meteors to strike enemies, dealing significant damage. If a meteor eliminates a target, it will explode around, continuing to deal damage and stun enemies. This promises to be an incredibly strong finishing unit for the Void and Sorcerer compositions.

The next major update that Riot brings will be regarding the Galaxies. Riot Mortdog also shared that each patch will introduce new Galaxies to the game, and in patch 10.8, there will be Trade Sector and Superdense Galaxy. With Trade Sector, all players will have one free roll for champions that cannot be saved, while in Superdense Galaxy, all players will receive Natural Armor when they reach level 5.

Changes in the game’s system include an increase in the conditions for receiving gold from win/loss streaks. Following this, there is a major shift in how damage is calculated after each round, with Riot reducing the basic damage of the Spirit Beast but increasing the damage from the composition, likely allowing strong early compositions to have a stronger position with this change. The common selection rounds also have fewer special rounds compared to the current situation.

The final major update in patch 10.8 is Riot lightly reworking the Pilot trait, focusing on the power of the Super Robot. The health of the Super Robot will change from 100% health of the Pilots to 1800 + 50% health of the Pilots. The skill damage of the Super Robot is also reduced at levels 7 and 8 (when there is 1/2 3-star Pilot unit), all these updates imply a reduction in the strength of Pilots in the mid-game (health and damage reduction).
Additionally, Riot also added significant combo milestones like 9 Bladesmen, 9 Void, 6 Assassins, 6 Guardians, 9 Rebels, and 8 Sorcerers into the game. In reality, reaching these milestones is nearly impossible, perhaps Riot did this just for fun, or to create opportunities for Teamfight Tactics YouTubers to generate more content.
