Since the launch of Teamfight Tactics Season 9, Riot Games has received numerous complaints from players about the imbalance. Notably, the champion Twisted Fate and later Draven have proven to be overly powerful, prompting Riot to urgently nerf them. Additionally, Grandmaster players have expressed dissatisfaction with the diversity of team compositions in Season 9.
Specifically, a player known as Dishsoap recently climbed to the Rank 1 Grandmaster position on the North American server. Afterward, this player candidly pointed out that the diversity of team compositions in Season 9 is terrible, resulting in a decline in player skill. He bluntly stated that there are only 2 effective team compositions for climbing ranks at the moment, which is far too few.

“Perhaps this is the time when I see the skill of players at the Grandmaster rank as weak as this. In each match, people will find all sorts of ways to Rotate the Shop for the Azir – Lux or Ionia composition at level 7. As a result, the matches turn into a game that is purely based on luck. The fact that there are only 2 effective team compositions is simply unacceptable,” – Player Dishsoap shared on social media.

According to statistics from Metatft.com, the two team compositions Azir – Lux and Ionia currently have extremely high competitive rates of 1.43 and 1.12 respectively. However, the top 4 placement rates for these two compositions are also very high at 54.1% and 53.2%. This indicates that these two compositions are significantly stronger, and even when contested, players can still earn ranking points with them.

This is clearly something hard to accept as the gameplay of Teamfight Tactics lacks the necessary diversity. Notably, champions like Azir, Lux, Yasuo, and Kai’Sa appear to be too strong compared to other 4-cost units. Hopefully, Riot Games will make the right adjustments in the near future to remedy this situation.
