Since the official launch of Teamfight Tactics Season 5: Judgment Day to the gaming community, many metas have been explored, and quite a few of them have surprised players. In this season, it’s not just the expensive champions that are powerful, but if a champion has both damage and durability, then that champion is undoubtedly very “overpowered.” In this case, we are talking about the Grandmaster of Weapons, Jax.

Jax belongs to the 4-gold champion group, with the Armored tribe and Warrior class. With Armored, having 2 champions of the tribe immediately grants 40 armor, while Warrior adds 300 Shield and increases attack speed by 3. This makes Jax, if equipped with a Ginsu’s Rageblade and a Rapid Firecannon, no different from a tank with a continuous firing cannon.
With high damage based on rapid attack speed, Jax also synergizes very well with healing items or Guardian Angel. Additionally, players can be more cautious by adding a Critical Strike item to increase this champion’s damage output. Some players even have more creative ideas by equipping Jax with a Dark Blue Buff – one of the most “broken” items in TFT Season 5 so far. With this item, Jax becomes more mobile and helps this piece accumulate attack speed stacks, making it similar to having two Ginsu’s Rageblades at once.
With such a strong champion, it’s strange that currently, Jax is not used as much as Rell within the same Armored tribe. In fact, when fitted into a 3 Armored team alongside Heimerdinger – Karma – Garen – Ivern – Volibear, Jax is often left without items, merely serving as a tank and triggering the tribe’s bonus. The reason many believe is that when forming a 3 Armored team, the focus is primarily on durability, protecting the damage dealers behind. Jax himself only has attack speed; equipping damage items on this champion may feel like a waste.
However, if Jax is fitted into an Armored – Warrior team or has the Evil Spirit or Divine Buff, this champion will be incredibly strong. Especially at 3 stars, not many names can stand toe-to-toe with Jax when he starts activating his skills.
The current optimal team composition for Jax: Jax – Rell – Nautilus – Warrior team composition.
