After the release of patch 10.6, Teamfight Tactics season 3 has created a real buzz among League of Legends players. Everyone is excited about the new season with a ton of interesting changes, the units are now more beautiful and eye-catching, and battles have become fresh with many completely new skill effects.
However, the fact is that the Dark Star trait seems to be left out of this game, as players use it too infrequently due to the extremely low power of the entire composition. The two saviors of the Dark Star trait are Shaco and Jhin, but the reason lies in their own strength as they already have huge damage, rather than thanks to a strong Dark Star composition.

Therefore, in the upcoming patch 10.7, Riot Games will rework the effects of this trait, at least making the Dark Star trait a viable choice rather than being neglected as it is now. This information was confirmed by Riot Wittrock and Riot Mortdog, the leading members of the Teamfight Tactics project.
Riot Wittrock: “We are testing a mini-rework for Dark Star that will be launched on the PBE server next Monday. Specifically, the new effect will be that whenever a Dark Star unit is defeated, all remaining Dark Star units will receive flat AP and AD bonuses that will stack until the end of the round.”
This update is extremely necessary for the Dark Star trait as it addresses the previous absurdity of this trait. Currently, the Dark Star trait provides additional percentage damage to all champions whenever one of its units falls. However, among the Dark Star champions, only 3 units utilize this effect well: Lux, Shaco, and Jhin, while the other units mainly serve as tanks or utility and do not require additional damage.

With flat AP and AD bonuses, it’s a completely different story; the AP gained will enhance skills, and the entire composition will benefit from it. For example, Karma will buff more armor, increase attack speed, and Mordekaiser will also gain armor for tankiness. This helps the entire Dark Star composition become stronger rather than just focusing damage on a few key carries.

In the context of the strongest meta compositions currently having strong burst damage potential, the gradual damage stacking of Dark Star is too slow and has little chance of winning. Hopefully, this mini-rework from Riot will give the Dark Star trait a louder voice, rather than being neglected as it is now.
