Blue Buff
Since its inception, Blue Buff has undergone the least amount of changes in Teamfight Tactics, with its last adjustment only occurring in patch 11.24. Perhaps for this reason, during most of Season 5, Blue Buff was rated very low, overshadowed by another energy-regenerating item, Shojin’s Spear. In Season 5, the Dark version known as Dark Blue Buff was much more favored than the original.

However, as we move into Season 6, Blue Buff has become an extremely hot item. First, we must mention the stability of the Mage composition with many carries that can effectively use Blue Buff, from Malzahar and Lux to even Twisted Fate if you want. Moreover, this item is also very suitable for a powerful 5-cost carry like Akali. The continuous energy regeneration allows Akali to glide across the battlefield with incredible mobility and easily take down the enemy team.
Morello’s Evil Tome
If you pay a little attention, in Season 5, most of the popular tank champions had abilities such as damage mitigation (Knight), damage reduction (Cavalier), or high armor (Armored). Therefore, Morello’s Evil Tome was not a good option to counter those popular tanks at that time. Additionally, the very few champions effectively using Morello’s Evil Tome in Season 5, like Kennen in Season 4, led to this item being rated relatively low among the magic damage-boosting items.

This completely changed in Season 6 as Morello’s Evil Tome saw much more usage. The first reason for this is that Teamfight Tactics now has too many healing abilities, especially from the tech cores. Therefore, you need a proactive counter item like Morello’s Evil Tome in your composition. Additionally, the prevalence of large health units requires players to possess an item that deals percentage health damage.
Statikk Shiv
Unlike the two items mentioned above, Statikk Shiv was once at the top of the meta at the beginning of Season 5 when it was used in the hyper-roll Demon team with Ziggs as the carry. However, this item was quickly overlooked when the Demon composition was nerfed, and other reroll strategies became stronger. Even when the Demon composition made a comeback, Statikk Shiv was no longer favored when players shifted their focus to Kled along with items like Bow of the Green and Runaan’s Hurricane.

As we enter Season 6, Statikk Shiv has made a spectacular comeback, being utilized by Kog’Maw or Urgot. Kog’Maw already deals a lot of magic damage with its abilities, while units like Viktor and Lissandra from the Chemtech trait are also formidable magic carries. Therefore, Statikk Shiv is becoming an extremely hot item when used by such powerful compositions.
