Heartsteel
Introduced as the new “explosive” trait of Teamfight Tactics Season 10, the situation of Heartsteel was quite poor in the previous version. The main reason was due to the dominance of reroll compositions, utilizing many 3-star champions that completely took over the meta in patch 13.23 and sped up the game pace significantly. As a result, the Heartsteel composition often found itself eliminated early before it could even “explode”.
However, in patch 13.24, this trait received comprehensive buffs from Riot. First, several champions such as K’Sante, Yone, Ezreal, Kayn had their damage increased, helping players retain health better. Additionally, the heavy nerfs to various reroll compositions also provided Heartsteel a more breathable environment to survive until they can reap the rewards.
8-bit
Although possessing an interesting damage stacking ability, the champions of the 8-bit trait have proven to be relatively weak. As a result, this composition struggled to compete with the powerful reroll strategies in the previous version. Instead, 8-bit was mostly activated with just 2 champions as an additional buff for the composition.
In patch 13.24, this could change as the stacking AD of this trait was increased from 3.5/6/10% to 4.5/7.5/12%. Furthermore, the damage output from Caitlyn‘s abilities was significantly increased, providing the 8-bit trait with a real damage dealer. These changes promise to give the 8-bit composition a better standing in the current patch 13.24.
Saint Ra De
With a composition featuring many melee carries like Saint Ra De, strong crowd control champions are considered “archenemies”. Unfortunately, Season 10 has too many units of this type such as Amumu, Ekko, Thresh, etc. As a result, the Saint Ra De composition, despite having great potential, has been completely overlooked by players.
By patch 13.24, Riot even buffed 4 champions from this trait including Yasuo, Yone, Viego, and Kayn. The purpose is to increase the damage output of the Saint Ra De composition and make them more useful in the upcoming version. This is a necessary move to balance Teamfight Tactics as ranged carries have proven to be too strong in the previous version.
