Recently, Gumayusi had an interview with reporter Ashley Kang about T1’s recent journey, the team’s goals in the playoffs, and their aim for the LCK Summer Championship 2021, as well as the ticket to the World Championship that will take place in China shortly after the domestic league concludes.
During the interview, Gumayusi made a very noteworthy statement. Specifically, when reporter Ashley Kang asked, “With the World Championship approaching, I want to ask, do you feel confident about the upcoming World Championship?” The response from the marksman currently playing for T1 surprised many but also showcased his absolute confidence in himself and teammate Keria:
“I mentioned this in a previous interview. I believe that right now, I (and Keria) are the strongest bot lane duo in the world. And I hope to continue proving this at the upcoming World Championship.”

When asked which bot lane duo he most wants to face, Gumayusi continued to show his confidence: “I think there is currently no bot lane duo that is really special enough to make me overly cautious. If Keria and I can focus and play our best, we can defeat any opponent.”
Gumayusi’s confidence is not unfounded, as after 23 games played, he has amassed 15 victories and only lost 8 matches – the fewest losses among players who have played more than 15 games. Gumayusi also ranks third in the list of players with the highest KDA statistics to date in the LCK, but if we exclude ShowMaker, who only occasionally swaps lanes, Gumayusi only trails behind veteran Teddy. Other statistics such as farm, gold earned, and experience gained by Gumayusi are also exceptionally good, even surpassing those of players who have nearly double his number of games.

As for Keria, this player remains an extremely high-quality Support for T1 as well as for the LCK and the world of League of Legends in general at this time. Not only does he play creatively with a wide influence on the game, but Keria also frequently makes spectacular plays and unique picks that leave opponents bewildered. Notably, during the time when coach Daeny was leading, this coach often rotated the roster, but Keria’s position remained “untouchable,” which is enough to show the importance and impact of the Support born in 2002 on T1’s current gameplay.

Gumayusi’s confidence is very promising as T1 prepares to enter a challenging playoffs and the upcoming World Championship. However, the LPL region remains very strong, and Europe and North America are still famous for their unique playstyles. Therefore, to help T1 soar, Gumayusi and Keria must consistently maintain their performance and give their best in every match because any slip-up could come at a very high price.
