T1’s Disappointing Defeat Against Gen.G
The most anticipated matchup of Week 7 of the Regular Seasons 2025 was undoubtedly the “El Clasico” between Gen.G and T1. Both teams are not just rivals, but even in various circumstances, including when one of them is not performing well, they still provide a thrilling match. This time was no exception, but while Gen.G’s victory was deserved, there remains a certain sense of regret for T1.

In this match, both T1 and Gen.G had moments of advantage and moments where they completely lost it. In Game 1, even when T1 secured the Chemtech Dragon Soul, many spectators probably believed that defeat was imminent for Gen.G. Moving to Game 2, both teams fought for every small advantage. It can be said that T1’s regrettable defeat was due to 2 names: Oner and Canyon.

In both games, the Smite competition between these two players decided everything. Admittedly, both games followed almost the same formula: Canyon finding ways to create chaos followed by Gen.G overwhelming the opposition. However, it was Oner’s failed Smite attempts against his experienced opponent that left T1 unable to recover.
Similar to the first match between the two teams, T1’s defeat was not necessarily due to poor performance, as they actually challenged Gen.G. But the moment when the star players stepped up at the right time allowed Gen.G to secure victory, with Chovy in the first match and now Canyon.

Both T1 and Gen.G Can Be Temporarily Satisfied with This Result
Despite the loss, this defeat will not significantly impact T1’s position in the top 6. If they can achieve a clean sweep in the upcoming week, T1 will follow Gen.G and HLE into the playoffs. Meanwhile, Gen.G will also be satisfied with this victory as it provides a good momentum heading into their match against HLE next week.
