Yesterday, April 2nd (Vietnam time), T1 defeated Gen.G Esports to win the LCK Spring 2022 finals. This victory allows T1 to set a historic record as the first LCK team to become champions without losing a single match from the group stage. Additionally, Faker achieved his 10th LCK title in his career while his younger teammates like Zeus, Oner, Gumayusi, Keria, and Coach Polt also secured their first LCK championship.

However, on the same day, many fans were quite worried when they saw the T1 members looking rather fatigued. Faker himself admitted in an interview right after the match that some members had health issues, especially jungler Oner – who was awarded MVP in the finals: “I want to especially thank Oner. He has health problems, is quite sick, but still performed very well.”

Recently, on the afternoon of April 3rd (Vietnam time), T1 officially announced that several players including Oner, Zeus, Faker, Keria, and Coach Moment tested positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, Gumayusi, Coach Polt, Coach Bengi, and Asper tested negative.

Upon receiving the news from T1, the League of Legends community, especially fans of the team, were quite stirred. However, the majority of opinions did not seem overly worried as the LCK Spring 2022 has concluded, and they do not have to play until MSI 2022 which will not start until May. Yet, some fans speculated that T1 might have contracted the virus earlier and only tested after the finals. Thus, these fans lamented that even Gen.G and COVID-19 could not stop Faker and his teammates from winning.

They avoided it all season. Luckily, they have time to recover before MSI. But I hope no one suffers from COVID-19 complications

Anyway, currently, the T1 players have entered a rest period and they have plenty of time to recover and prepare for MSI 2022. But T1 also needs to be very cautious, as the long-term effects of COVID-19 can also have significant impacts and may affect the team’s performance in the upcoming MSI 2022.
