In the recent LCK Spring 2022, T1 emerged as champions with the most perfect record in the history of League of Legends in general and LCK specifically. Not only did they achieve a record-winning streak of 20 wins – 0 losses, but this success also brought Faker and T1 their 10th LCK championship trophy. At the same time, names like Zeus, Oner, and the duo Gumayusi – Keria also earned their first titles since starting their professional careers.

Throughout T1’s journey, much has been said about the spearhead Faker, Zeus’s performances in his first season as a starter, Oner’s growth, or Keria’s ability to create impacts, but certainly, we cannot overlook the “Super Marksman” Gumayusi. If in the past, SKT T1 had the duo Bang – Wolf, then currently, Gumayusi can be said to be on his way to proving that he is not inferior, if not preparing to surpass the legendary senior.

Recently, T1 CEO Joe Marsh revealed some interesting truths about Gumayusi. As the League of Legends community knows, Gumayusi is the only name in T1’s young stars who joined the team when it was still called SKT T1. However, most of Gumayusi’s early time was spent in the second team. And T1 CEO Joe Marsh affirmed that Gumayusi is the most confident young player he has ever met, and the fact that “Faker’s nephew” is not afraid to voice his thoughts has left a strong impression on him.
Additionally, the T1 CEO also stated: “Do you guys (Doublelift, LS) know why he spent so long in the second team? He was stuck there for a whole season and had the right to leave. But he said, ‘No, I will stay here and prove to you how wrong you were for not bringing me up to the first team two years ago.’ That’s what I was told, and I was really impressed by how this 17-year-old kid didn’t care about anything else and just wanted to prove himself to us.”
Doublelift later admitted: “Honestly, when I see Guma play, I think ‘wow, how can I beat this kid?’ You know, I’ve been playing professionally for 10 years now, and this has never happened before. Even with Uzi, I thought I could defeat Uzi. But with Guma, I give up.”
It can be said that Gumayusi is highly regarded as one of the best marksmen in the League of Legends scene today. With what he has shown so far, plus his talented teammates, MSI 2022 and further tournaments like Summer 2022, Worlds 2022, or even the 2022 Asian Games (if they happen), will all be opportunities for “Faker’s nephew” to prove he is currently the best marksman in the world.
