When mentioning the streamer community in the LCS region, many people today might think of famous names like Tyler1 or Cowsep. These are two of the few streamer names still associated with the game from Riot. Notably, the appeal of League of Legends has been declining even in its “home turf.” Particularly, the LCS is one of the regions where there are almost no female streamers still active or building up their fame. Former prominent names like Pokimane have left League of Legends, while newer faces are too obscure and must engage in more appealing content.

This is an unavoidable situation as League of Legends in North America has long been lacking in both performance and appeal. There are virtually no names guaranteeing the excitement of the tournament. There’s Doublelift, but he is aging and no longer plays as well as before. In fact, when talking about LCS these days, perhaps Sneaky’s cosplay might leave a stronger impression on the audience. Not to mention, the most famous team in the region, Team SoloMid, has just officially parted ways with professional League of Legends after the Summer split.

Not only the audience but even the streamers and KOLs in North America are not enthusiastic about League of Legends. However, recently, LCS viewers were stirred up when Pokimane posted a tweet suggesting her return to League of Legends. Naturally, the post from the famous female streamer quickly attracted the attention of both players and KOLs, commentators in the region. Previously, Pokimane had a long-standing association with League of Legends. But after the game lost its appeal and she gained more fame, she shifted focus to many other options to engage her audience.

However, under Pokimane’s post, many people joked that she shouldn’t return to League of Legends. Or if she does, it would be better to only play ARAM or have a fun team to enjoy and entertain.

Of course, Pokimane’s return is just an individual case. But if other streamers and KOLs of her caliber also pay attention to League of Legends, it could potentially revive interest in the game at the LCS. However, whether they will stay long-term is another question that needs attention, and only time will tell the answer.
