On the afternoon of January 16 (Vietnam time), the highlight match of the first week of LPL Spring 2022 between Weibo Gaming and Bilibili Gaming will officially take place. This is not just a matchup between two of the most powerful media conglomerates in the country, but also a “battle of the gods” as 3 out of 5 players deemed “divine” by LPL fans will face off: TheShy – SofM will clash with Uzi.

In terms of current form and spirit, TheShy – SofM have shown performances that can be deemed acceptable in their debut against Team WE. Although there were moments that had fans’ hearts racing, this duo and WBG as a whole still secured a convincing victory. Moreover, images from the WBG gaming house show TheShy and SofM sitting next to each other. This action clearly indicates that WBG is extremely serious about TheShy’s transfer and hopes he will be able to synergize well with the “Vietnamese Jungle God” SofM.

Meanwhile, on the opposite side, Uzi has yet to play a single match in his new colors. At the Demacia Cup 2021, Doggo was the player chosen to compete instead of Uzi. There have been many doubts about the form of the former Royal Never Give Up star and his actual role in this comeback. Uzi has been away from professional League of Legends for too long to quickly adapt to the intensity and pressure of practice and competition. In fact, many fans believe that BLG recruited both Uzi and Doggo to have the LPL legend coach and serve as a backup for Doggo, which seems more reasonable.

Recently, the LPL community has been buzzing with news that Uzi might only sit on the bench during the “battle of the gods.” Although BLG has not made an official announcement regarding this, the information has caused the LPL community to “erupt.” Some LPL fans immediately harshly criticized BLG’s coaching staff. According to these fans, Uzi has been away from the professional scene for too long and needs real matches to regain his form. Some even suggested that BLG just wants to capitalize on Uzi’s image.

However, some calmer fans believe that Uzi has returned and has shown decent results in scrims, but as mentioned, Uzi has been away from professional League of Legends for too long and perhaps a crucial match like facing WBG might be a bit much for this player. Given that the debut match needs a good result, surely Uzi himself wouldn’t want to jeopardize the team’s overall performance.

However, if Uzi truly cannot play, the “battle of the gods” will lose some of its significance. Nevertheless, Uzi, SofM, and TheShy all need more time. But one thing is for sure, the clash between WBG and BLG will not lose its appeal as both teams still have top-tier players capable of delivering high-level League of Legends performances.
