Ruler makes a new statement but it still hasn’t cooled down the LCK
As we know, recently, alongside the incredibly exciting matches from tournaments across the League of Legends scene, another matter has also drawn significant attention regarding Ruler’s tax issues. Notably, the player himself and the entire Gen.G team have maintained absolute silence despite the mounting pressure from LCK fans, with Gen.G supporters in Korea increasing day by day. It wasn’t until recently, as the LCK Regular Season 2026 entered its third week, that Ruler officially spoke out.

Accordingly, the AD of Gen.G admitted that he was slow to respond and apologized to all fans. At the same time, Ruler also mentioned that the reason for the incident was due to his own negligence regarding financial matters and records, which led to the situation. In short, the statement from the AD currently wearing the Gen.G jersey aligns with what his representatives had previously announced, that Ruler was not fully aware of his tax issues.

Of course, Ruler’s somewhat late statements did not manage to cool down the LCK audience. On the FmKorea platform (where the interview was published), many opinions still believe that Gen.G’s AD did not truly feel remorse from the beginning, but rather, it was merely a move to placate public opinion.
– I see comments like “Well done, well done” popping up, and soon they’ll probably say Ruler has been wronged.
– Let’s just say it was due to shock that he acted inadequately, but what people feel frustrated about is the carelessness and irresponsibility in handling the issue. He even said he “didn’t know anything,” which is really hard to accept.
– But if that’s the case, why has LCK and Riot or even Gen.G remained silent until now?
– If he truly felt remorse, everything should have been addressed from the very first day the incident was revealed; then the entire LCK community might have defended him.

Ruler will have to face the consequences of this incident for a long time
According to the predictions of LCK fans, for players whose reputations are already significant like Ruler, who are often celebrated by Riot, this will be the biggest “stain” in their career. And it’s almost certain that this story will be frequently recalled until Ruler retires.
