If you recall, since the 2017 World Championship, there has been a concept known as “wife buff” within the League of Legends community. The most notable examples are Ambition and Doinb, who both became world champions after getting married. Therefore, whenever a professional League of Legends player is rumored to be getting married or has a long-term girlfriend, the term “wife buff” is often mentioned.

Recently, the Support player of RNG, Ming, has been discovered to have a long-term girlfriend named Ye Yi. The couple kept their relationship so secret that the online community only found out when they played Teamfight Tactics together (the Mobile version of TFT in China). Specifically, while playing this game, Ming and Ye Yi set their in-game avatars as a couple, which was quickly spotted by fans.

Additionally, when “digging up” photos and posts of the couple on Weibo, it was discovered that Ming and Ye Yi traveled to the snowy mountains together at the end of 2021. Even the “detectives” found out that their phone cases were matching and printed with each other’s names.

An interesting detail is that Ye Yi is actually not a stranger to RNG players or former members. She and Uzi’s fiancée are a famous best friend couple in the Chinese League of Legends scene, and even Karsa’s girlfriend is very close to Ye Yi. It’s not impossible that Uzi and his fiancée played matchmaker for Ye Yi and Ming.

After this news spread widely, many people believe that Ming is about to activate the “wife buff” and propose to Ye Yi in the near future. However, some opinions counter that the buff has lost its magic and that getting married no longer guarantees a world championship. For example, Uzi is a prime example as he just successfully proposed at the end of 2021 but announced a break until the end of the season.

Regardless, many RNG fans have sent their congratulations to Ming for having a beautiful and talented girlfriend. If you didn’t know, Ye Yi is a very famous blogger and model, reportedly earning about 1 million USD (23 billion VND) per month. Currently, Ye Yi also has a massive following on social media, with 1.1 million followers on Weibo.
